Take a journey through the history of our mansion, its myths and memories.

The story of the Maison Sur La Sorgue began in the 14th century when the island was part of the Comtat Venaissin (one of the Papal States).  The Barthelier family, which had made its mark during the crusades, bought the land with the aim of building their property there. The private mansion was erected in the 17th century in Rue Rose Goudard, opposite the Chapelle des Pénitents Bleus.

With a long and fascinating history, the private mansion is now home to a host of hidden treasures: a handsome, verdant garden with a swimming basin, terraces, a large lounge with a fireplace, a bright, airy kitchen, spacious rooms and suites, an art gallery which opens onto the market place, and design and decoration shops with many "objets d'art" and collectibles picked up during travels.

Now a boutique hotel, the house invites you on a journey of discovery on L'Isle sur la Sorgue.

Experience the delights of the passing seasons in Provence.

Follow the Sorgue, whose source is located in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse where it springs from a chasm: discover delightful villages and a stunning landscape shaped by vineyards. Take a refreshing walk along the Sorgue or explore the Vaucluse cycle routes.

Visitors with a passion for nature should follow the small, quiet roads which lead through the vineyards: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, and the Luberon and Ventoux vineyards… Sample these wines, including Provence rosés, which are the perfect accompaniment to Provençal cuisine.

Our boutique hotel on L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a dream location for visiting Provence, from the Haute-Provence Alps to the shores of the Mediterranean, from Luberon to the Alpilles, through Avignon and Arles...

Before heading further afield, take a moment to stroll around L'Isle sur la Sorgue and enjoy its shops. Every Sunday year-round, the island plays host to a bustling flea market - a major draw for antiques aficionados.

L’Isle sur la Sorgue has become the 3rd European destination for the sale of antiques and second-hand objects after London thanks to its International Art & Antiques fair which attracts 450 dealers.

For those who prefer to take in the town in another way, head to the cafés and restaurants along the banks of the Sorgue or, for the more adventurous, navigate the river in a canoe from Fontaine de Vaucluse to L'Isle sur la Sorgue.
